Callie when I saw your pattern for the ric rac socks I thought they looked like the ones out of the Little Box of Socks. I bought my mother that box set as a gift a few years ago now but I think they still sell them for around $15 or something near that for about 10 to 12 patterns!

ReplyDeleteI've knit a bunch of 1 skein scarves with fun fur and I use size 13 needles and cast on anywhere from 8 to 10 stitches. Knit in stockinette because I didn't like how garter feels in that gauge. I knit back and forth without turning like in entrelac when you knit backwards so you don't have to keep flipping your work. The edges curl and it ends up looking like a boa and usually long enough to fold in half and tuck through like many wear scarves these days. Some people look at the scarves and wrinkle their noses in disdain as they say "that's a scarf?!?!", but those are folks who think a scarf must be a long, flat strip. I also use fun fur with a crocheted catnip mousie pattern I found somewhere.
Hi, this was the first podcast of yours I have been able to watch, great show! I live in Beijing China and knit with Chinese yarn all the time. There is a group in Raverly called China Knitters and there are different threads helping people read their yarn labels. Enjoy! Eerduosi is a pretty common yarn in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteSteve, don't be ashamed of the fun fur, embrace it for what it is! You can knit anything and still make it look fabulous!! Also, don't change the way you pronounce Wollmeise. In fact, of all the podcasts I watch, you say it the best. How do I know? I'm an American who has lived in Germany for the past 17 years and I speak fluent German. Keep up the good work!!! Ich liebe Wollmeise!
